Demon, be gone...be gone...please, be gone already!

Sometimes reboots work.

Sometimes reboots fail.

And this is one of those reboot flops.

When I first watched the series premiere, I thought the series kept to the originality of the films, but this series lost its way.

I know the series focuses on possessions and exorcisms, but they need to add more backstories.

This reboot revolves around Latino priest Father Ortega, an exile exorcist Marcus and Casey; a young woman overwhelmed by a demon.

A demon that has history with her mother, which wasn't revealed until later on in the season.

During the season so far, all I've seen is Father Ortega fighting his male urges and trying to be loyal to God. Sigh, that's a joke because you can still be loyal or faithful to God and still be a man. But anyway, you also follow the adventures of a shabby and obviously homeless ex-Father Marcus looking for things that go bump in the night and the struggle for Casey's soul and sanity.

Now, that's a pet-peeve of mine. If something is based on a topic, focus on it yes, but also...focus on smaller bits of information that naturally blend with the main topic. That's when everything falls into place.

Anyway, the season is almost over or IS over for there haven't been new episodes in 2 weeks. I hope, if they want to be renewed for a 2nd season, they pick up their pace.

The acting is alright, I guess. Nothing spectacular, really.

And one more thing before I end this review...I know the Catholic church is the most corrupt religion and church out there, but why was it necessary to write it into the story that ex-Father Marcus is gay? Why? How does that add to his character!? IT DOESN'T AT ALL. Enough said.

My rating of FOX's THE EXORCIST, is a flat 2 ⭐⭐
