Eternal Blood Always Wins...
When I heard they were making another Underworld film, adding to the trilogy…I was excited because I just love vampires and werewolves. So much so, that I’ve written about them.
This film follows Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she’s being hunted by both vampires and werewolves, thinking she knows the location of her hybrid daughter. Unfortunately, the wars between vampires and werewolves will never end as she’s thrown back into the war.
These movies never disappoint when it comes to the action and betrayal of the races; especially the hatred between them which is perfectly executed. The Lycanthrope special FX however, were a little off from the previous films but the vampire FX were of course, spot on.
What I loved most among everything vampires and werewolves, was Selene’s evolution into a more powerful and ultimate vampire which can happen because even in rare cases, they evolve. That was my favorite part.
The acting of course, didn’t disappoint and it was great to see Beckinsale reprise her role as the feminine badass, werewolf killing vampire!
I grew tears, when she discovered what had happened to the love of her life, Michael. Seeing the blood memories between them was sad to see because their love story had come to an end. Their relationship I can see, I guess happening because he’s a hybrid; both vampire and lycan alike.
Now that he’s out of the picture and that Selene’s daughter had returned at the end of the film, I’m curious to see if or how, there will be another film. That I can totally agree with and see.
Also too, seeing the dreamy Theo James pop back into Selene’s life was a breath of fresh and very easy on the eyes too. I’m glad that they revealed his origins of his background, making him the offspring of one of the Elder vampires.
Although, how can that be?
Was she human when she gave birth to him or was she vampire?
If she was vampire, how can she become pregnant? I hope they didn’t get that story plot from the CW’s The Vampire Diaries because that’s not inspiration. That’s just plain ridiculousness.
The arctic vampire clan was interesting to watch, for they had their own ways and beliefs.
Altogether, if you’re a heavy Underworld fan or are really into vampires and werewolves, then this film is just for you.
My rating of UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS is an ass kicking 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
